Volunteer day Kapahu Living Farm

The Hāna Ranch team recently switched up our daily routine and volunteered at Kapahu Living Farm in Kipahulu. At Kapahu Living Farm, our gracious hosts, Uncle John and Auntie Tweetie Lind demonstrated the ins and outs of taro farming. And of course, our team was not afraid to jump right in and get our hands dirty!

When the farming was done and the taro patches were all in great shape, our hosts lead us through a covered, bamboo forest up to the beautiful, pristine Pools of Ohe’o (the Seven Sacred Pools), where we cooled off and cleaned up before lunch at the Kipahulu Community Center. Meals are not taken lightly at Hāna Ranch. Managers Morgan and Linh cooked up marinated pork shoulder wrapped in pork belly (caught by our very own farmer Lester Jr.), rice, and our Hāna Ranch grown mixed greens salad and sautéed bok choy.

Thank you to Uncle John and Auntie Tweetie Lind for being such gracious hosts and allowing us to spend the day with you! See more photos of the day on our Facebook page.
